Frost & Sullivan awards

Frost & Sullivan awards Sasatel for Innovative Strategies in the Tanzanian Broadband Internet Market.

Based on its recent research on the East African Broadband Internet market, an internationally recognized research agency, Frost & Sullivan has presented Sasatel with the “2010 East African Broadband Internet Product Differentiation Excellence” Award.

The award recognizes Sasatel’s efforts to deliver high quality yet low-cost network service, good customer support and innovative solutions that constantly exceed customer expectations.

While receiving the award, the Sasatel Managing Director, Christian Haeger said, “We are very proud as a Tanzanian company to have won this prestigious award after less than one year of operation in this market. This award demonstrates the steady development of the ICT industry in Tanzania”.

Christian Haeger further clarified that, “One year after our launch in Tanzania, we have Internet solutions for all customers. Wimax for the large organizations like Multinational companies and Government Ministries, Fixed and Mobile EVDO Broadband for the demanding businesses, businessmen and high end residential as well as Data packages for the mass market at very affordable prices”.

Sasatel was licensed to provide wireless telecommunication services in June 2008, while it officially launched its CDMA technology for commercial operation in June 2009, thereafter the company strived to focus on data services by deploying EV-DO and WiMAX technologies.

Over the past one year, Sasatel has successfully established itself in the mobile and fixed broadband internet market segment in the increasingly competitive telecommunications market through filling in the gap of supply shortage of broadband data services by seizing the opportunity of undersea cables and cost-effective fixed-wireless technologies. Sasatel is financed by its majority shareholder PME Infrastructure Fund listed on the AIM Stock Exchange in London, with significant Tanzanian ownership.
