Sasatel WiMAX

The WiMAX platform from Sasatel provides large businesses with dedicated bandwidth and truly unlimited internet usage at a fixed monthly fee. Speeds vary from 1 Megabit per second (Mbps) to 10 Mbps and such speeds are achieved both uplink and downlink with dedicated bandwidth directly onto the Seacom cable.

To eliminate the investment cost for our customers, Sasatel has decided not to charge for the installation and equipment fee. As a result, customers who already have an internet connection and their own LAN infrastructure can easily replace their connection with Sasatel WiMAX without any additional investments.

The advantages of signing up for Sasatel WiMAX include unlimited usage, same speed both uplink and downlink, dedicated speed on the Seacom cable, a comprehensive Service Level Agreement (SLA) and online bandwidth monitoring tool.

About WiMAX

WiMAX, meaning Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is a telecommunications technology that provides wireless transmission of data using a variety of transmission modes, from point-to-multipoint links to portable and fully mobile internet access. The technology provides up to 10 Mbps broadband speed without the need for cables. The technology is based on the IEEE 802.16 standard (also called Broadband Wireless Access). The name "WiMAX" was created by the WiMAX Forum, which was formed in June 2001 to promote conformity and interoperability of the standard. The forum describes WiMAX as "a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to cable and DSL".
